VIOLATIONS
Hearing Result
Also known as: hearing outcome, adjudication result, contest result
What is a Hearing Result?
A hearing result is the official outcome of a contested violation after an adjudicator has reviewed the case. For DOF violations (parking and camera), possible results include guilty (violation upheld, full fine owed), not guilty (violation dismissed), and guilty with reduction (partial fine). For OATH violations, results also include default (failure to appear, maximum penalty).
Hearing results are recorded in the DOF and OATH systems and reflected in the violation's status. A not-guilty result changes the status to "Dismissed" with $0 balance. A guilty result confirms the amount due. A reduction updates the amount due to the reduced figure. Results are typically rendered within 1–2 weeks for mail-in hearings and immediately for in-person hearings.
For fleet operators, tracking hearing results across all contested tickets is essential for measuring the ROI of your defense efforts. If you're winning 40% of contested parking tickets, that's real money saved. Clear Plates tracks every hearing result and provides win-rate analytics so you can refine your defense strategy over time.
