What is a Renter Portal?
The renter portal is a standalone billing interface where fleet owners push violations to the companies leasing their vehicles. Each renter company receives a unique, secure portal link where they can view violations attributed to their rental period, see the amounts owed (including any markup), and pay via Stripe Checkout.
The portal operates on a token-based authentication system — no login required. Renters access their portal through a signed URL, and all violations displayed are filtered to their specific vehicles and rental windows. The portal has three views: Outstanding (violations awaiting payment), Paid (resolved violations), and History (complete transaction record).
For fleet owners, the renter portal automates the billing cycle that previously required manual spreadsheets, emails, and phone calls. Instead of chasing DSPs for payment on individual tickets, fleet owners push violations to the portal and let renters self-serve. Clear Plates charges a $2 platform fee per violation on renter portal payments, and fleet owners can add their own markup as a revenue share component.
