Speed Camera Zone

A speed camera zone is a designated area where automated speed enforcement cameras are installed to detect and ticket vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit. In NYC, speed camera zones are concentrated near schools as part of the School Zone Speed Camera Program, with over 2,000 cameras installed citywide. Cameras are active on school days from 6 AM to 10 PM.

Speed camera zones are marked with signage indicating "Speed Camera" or "Photo Enforced," though the signs can be easy to miss on busy streets.
