VIOLATIONS

No Stopping

Also known as: no stopping zone ticket, no stopping violation

What is a No Stopping?

A no-stopping violation is issued when a vehicle stops for any reason whatsoever in a designated no-stopping zone. This is the most restrictive of NYC's three parking prohibition signs. Unlike no-parking (allows temporary loading) or no-standing (allows passenger pickup), no-stopping means exactly what it says — you cannot stop the vehicle at all, even for a moment.

Base fines for no-stopping violations range from $115 to $185, and vehicles in no-stopping zones may be towed immediately. These zones are typically found near bridges, tunnels, major intersections, and areas with critical traffic flow requirements. Many no-stopping zones are in effect 24 hours a day.

For delivery fleets, no-stopping zones present an absolute barrier — there is no legal way to make a delivery stop in these locations. Drivers must be trained to recognize no-stopping signs (red lettering, typically) and plan stops outside these zones. Clear Plates tracks no-stopping violations and can identify drivers or routes that repeatedly incur these high-cost, high-risk tickets.
