CityPay

Also known as: NYC CityPay, CityPay portal, DOF payment portal

What is a CityPay?

CityPay is the NYC Department of Finance's online payment portal for parking and camera violation fines. Located at nyc.gov/citypay, it allows vehicle owners to look up violations by plate number or summons number, see current amounts due (including any accrued penalties), and pay by credit card or bank transfer.

CityPay is the authoritative source for current violation balances. While NYC Open Data provides violation records, CityPay reflects real-time payment status and the exact amount owed today — including penalties and interest that may have accrued since the Open Data snapshot. CityPay also shows CityPay-verified amounts that may differ from the Open Data amount_due field due to recent payments or penalty updates.

For fleet operators, CityPay is the final destination for violation payments. Without a bulk payment tool, fleet managers would need to visit CityPay individually for each violation — entering the summons number, verifying the amount, and processing payment one ticket at a time. Clear Plates uses CityPay-verified amounts when available to ensure payment accuracy, and the city payment queue handles the actual remittance to NYC through CityPay.
